Terms of Use
digwolf is a free tool for looking up public DNS information. This page sets out what to expect when you use it. It's short on purpose.
Where the information comes from
Everything digwolf shows comes from public DNS: answers from DNS resolvers about the records published for a domain. digwolf doesn't create that information and can't see anything that isn't public.
What the results are, and aren't
Results can be incomplete, cached, out of date, or different from what another resolver, network or location sees. They show what the resolvers digwolf asked had at that moment. A change you made may not be visible yet, and a record that isn't shown may still exist. Before you act on a result, especially for something important like a DNS change or an email setup, check it against the source you control. The FAQ explains the common causes.
No guarantees
digwolf is provided as it is. There's no promise that it will be available, fast or accurate, or that it will keep working or stay free. Features may change or be removed at any time.
Fair use
digwolf limits how many lookups each visitor can make, and limits how much it asks of DNS resolvers overall. Automated or heavy use, including scripts and scraping, may be slowed or blocked, and so may anything that harms the service or the resolvers behind it. There's currently no API.
Your responsibility
You are responsible for how you use the information. Please use digwolf for lawful purposes, and don't use it to attack, harass or interfere with anyone.
Privacy
The Privacy Policy describes what digwolf collects and keeps.
